I am a new member here. This looks like an amazing place for bike talk and to learn new things. I am a 26 year old male from maryland. I am getting back into bikeing to help myself get back into shape and also to have some fun. I was in great shape when I was younger and playing ball. To bad I tore my rotator cuff or sle I would be at least in the minors right now :(

Ok enough about me. I just got home with a brand new Iron Horse Maverick se which retails for $639.99. I got it for $375.20 plus tax. I think this is an amazing deal!!!! Or maybe not? This bike looks and rides awsome and fits me very well. Looks like it is built like a rock and can take a beating if I decide to dish it out.

Does anybody have any expericance with this bike? Also did I get a good deal? I will mostly be rideing the C&O canal trail along the potomac river which is hard pack. After a couple months when I start getting back in shape I will start doing more serious rideing. Did I choose a bike that will do the job well?

Thanks for any info you guys and gals may have to offer. :)

you will! It's a great time of year to get out too.
Do you have anyone or groups to ride with?

if not go to a local shop and ask around.

any group worth their weight will welcome a new rider.

it's usually more fun (and safer) to ride w/ friends or a group

Actually my gf just got a bike also and we will ride together. There may be times when I go out by myself when I feel the urge to ride hard. In which case I will have my nextel on em in case of emergency. The guy that sold me the bike at performance bike is a hard core rider and a bi athalon (sp?) and he was extreamly friendly and very helpfull. I bet if I asked him he would help me out with a group to ride with. Thanks for the good idea. I never thought of that.
