Oh, yeah, Kraftwerk. I almost forgot about those guys. Are they still around? I bet that mechanical sound would be good to keep you pumping out the cadence.

I was the singer in a DeathMetal band in Highschool. I was into that stuff for about 8 years. All Kinds of Deathmetal, Grindcore, Gorecore, Hardcore, Blackmetal. If you ever want to hear the sickist group out there.. Try Mortician.. I grew out of it somehow. I realized that girls just weren't digging that stuff. I started going to niteclubs and starting liking house music. It was a good change for me.

I don't know if I'd go quite that far, but I've got to give the guy his due. I saw he and his band perform at Farm Aid in 1999. Lots of big names there, but they stole the show.

P.S. Unfortunately, he had started smoking again... I heard he'd had a heart attack, and had quit, and was warning other people against smoking. Folks, if you don't smoke, never, ever start. It's a hard habit to break. (I 'spect I'm preaching to the choir, here.)

Greetings all, this is my frist post as i just joined today.
For me, nothing gets the legs pumpin and the heart pounding like some good ol' fashoned Reggae. My favorite CD is Bob Marley's "greatest hits". For the record thoe, I don't listen to music while riding in traffic, the tunes are for trails and long distance only, and always at a moderate volume (safty first)

Snoop_dujour, welcome, nice to see another western Canadian here!

As soon as I saw that CCM I knew it had to be another Canuck!

Alas, my favourite band in the whole world (The Screaming Jets) are apparently no more. I got to see them live on their Farewell tour and they are simply the best live band one could ever want to see.

That is all I had to say.

While at work, I listen to KPIG from Santa Cruz, CA (www.kpig.com). They play a great mix of blues rock and folk, a genre that has come to be called "Americana" and features mostly singer/songwriters, acoustic guitars - sort of an alternative folk.

(reading back over that last paragraph I'm reminded of how silly it is to try to categorize music into some sort of neat pigeonhole).

I could listen to Tom Waits pretty much constantly, but then I couldn't listen to Neil Young, or Dylan.

On the other hand, I'm listening to an old John Coltrane album (Giant Steps) as I type this, with Charlie Mingus on deck. Just can't beat jazz first thing in the morning...
