Mountain Biking - Jeep?

Does anyone have any experience with "Jeep" branded bikes? My LBS has one for sale at what seems like a reasonable price (under 350). It has full suspension, which I really want even though I don't really do any off-roading yet.
I am looking to replace my "Roadmaster POS" but I can't spend much at all. So far my other option has been x-Mart specials, which I'd rather not do.

From what I've heard, Jeep bikes are poop-o-matic crap piles. And very heavy.

Check out the mountain bike topic area and do a search. This is a common question and isn't easily answered. In reality they aren't worth it if you plan on doing any serious riding. They are heavy and have unproven forks (monroe). Check out the other threads for more detailed descriptions.

Show a serious cyclist a "Jeep" branded bike and they'll react in a manner consistant to those poor folks who were exposed to Tom Green's Poo Stick.

Im my research, i found that there was two different grades of Jeep bikes. The ones that Were sold at sears were the cheaper ones, and they had lots of problems. There are some jeep bikes that seem to have very high end components and are expensive. It is very hard to get any information on any of the higher end jeep bikes. THey have a negative name from all the bad experiences people had with there sears bikes.

This is the first that i have heard of a LBS carrying Jeep bikes. Maybe its something we will see more of in the future.

I think you will find if they want to get popular they will have to dump the monroe fronts and 'buy' a full suspension design. What they have now may have nice components on it but the suspension is theres and won't be great in true out of bounds conditions.

Until they do this I will still say they suck and so will any other rider that wants to stand behind their statements.
