Introductions - Hello from the Appalachian Mountains of KY

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey I am a new rider...was in the sport about 4 years ago and dropped out because I busted an ear drum and couldn't stand the pain of getting my heart rate too high. So I got pretty bad out of shape.
I just bought a new bike GT Agressor on Ebay for 129
and am starting a small team to ride in the coal fields of east KY we have some amazing places to ride.
I really am just getting started but if anyone lives near my area let me know.
Eddie
Welcome to BikeForums.
Many of us were "out of shape" before we started riding (like me ;) ) so we know how you feel.
Good luck getting a team together. Keep us posted of how things progress.

You have some beautiful places to ride. My husband and I were in the Applachian Mountains a couple of weeks ago. Wheh!!!! One ride was 15 miles into a town at the top of a mountain from the New River. It was all up hill. I was cursing & yelling at myself for encouragement, not aware that my husband 1/2 mile back could hear me. How we knew it was all uphill, was on the way back we only had to pedal for the first two miles, the rest of the distance we rode our brakes. Another time we were in Watoga State Park. We set up the tent and thought we would ride our bikes to the pool. It was 6 miles uphill inside the park.
Oh yeah, if you don't change your eating patterns, you'll still be outashape like me.
