It rained all night long. I got up, fixed a couple peanut butter, banana, nutella and granola sandwiches and headed out into the fog. There were occasional breaks in the rain, but for the most part the ride was very wet, especially at the end. 7 hours and 15 minutes of constant riding with maybe 15 minutes break for the bathroom and a couple of granola bars, and I made it to Prince Rupert with 80 miles on the dial. I stopped in at the library to find out if there was a hostel in town. I was pointed in the right direction and visited the Pioneer Hostel before heading straight to the laundromat to get out of my wet clothes and do a wash. I dried out my tent, rainfly, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad as well. I hadn’t eaten anything all day so I went down the street to Zorba’s where they had everything from Greek to East Indian food. I ordered French onion soup, saag paneer (an Indian dish), and some naan bread. The food was so delicious. I discovered the cooks were East Indian. No wonder. Pleasantly stuffed, I headed back towards the hostel but stopped off at an internet café. The cost for one hour was half as much as in Terrace, with a better atmosphere as well. I ordered a chocolate/coffee shake and did some emailing. I checked into the hostel and got acquainted with an Austrian backpacker named Flo. He had been traveling in the Queen Charlottes and told me about his 5-day kayak trip through the South Islands. I discovered the ferry takes 6 and a half hours to get to Skidegate in the southern part of Graham Island. That kind of fouls up my plans to arrive in Masset, about 100 km North, by Saturday evening. I ended the night chatting with my friend Suzie on the phone, taking a hot shower, and then talking to Flo for a bit. (82 miles)

Peace

Pic: I imagined the views would have been nice in better weather. At times there were some clear areas where I could see some nice waterfalls.
