I just purchased one of these today for $75 bucks. It appears to be in fair/good condition. Frame is a bit rusted, rear shifter works but is a bit difficult. He gave me the last service receipt, from three years ago, which listed the following to have been replaced:

-shimano cassette
-avenir discovery tire
-shimano IG-31 81mm
-Novana schrader tube 710x 26
-rear der cable
-rim tape

Total on all that was 62.50, so I pretty much just paid for its last service.

It also looks like the shifters and handle bars were replaced a long time ago.

Just wondering what this bike is worth and whether I should invest some more into it... I don't know much about this stuff, I was just looking for a cool bike to commute with and it's gotten me interested.

I have a '76 and think it would make a good commuter. Nice geometry, clearance for fenders and sensible sized tires. But unless it's very original, IMHO it would have no collector value. Original equipment not all that good anyway.

They got better components in 1977. Those aren't really collectible either, but a nice rider. Unless your bike is in terrible shape, I'd think that putting in some time/money would be worthwhile.

26" tube on the last servicing? That sounds wrong. Maybe it works, but it is a mistake - hopefully just a clerical error.
