A Manitou Black Elite 100m front fork came on my 2004 Jamis Dakar XC Comp. However, I didn't get any manuals with it. I can't seem to find any online links to a Manitou web site that might provide more information, such as how to make adjustments to this fork. I know it has a rebound adjusting lever on the bottom of the right arm. But, the top of the left arm also appears to have an adjustable cap and I have no idea what it does. Can anyone point me to a link that provides more information about this unit?

I believe you are referring to the schraeder valve, which is where the air goes in with your shock pump. Cap just unscrews. Note that you have to use a shockpump and pressure is determined by rider weight and preference, please reference the manuals at answerproducts.com for a weight chart.

I've got the same bike as you, with the same fork. Even though Jamis says that fork is a Black Elite, I believe it's really a Black Comp...which is a step down. Checkout the service manuals on the Manitou website and you'll see that the diagrams of the Black Comp match our fork. The poster before me suggested it was an air valve, I don't think this is the case because this fork is a spring fork, not an air fork. And that top adjustment is, according to the manuals, for sag adjustment. I found however that it doesn't adjust the sag at all, no matter how much I turn it. Hope this helps a little.
