Foo - Another one heading to Colorado!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That's right folks, I'm moving to Denver. My short but life changing time here in Virginia has taught be a few serious lessons, the most important being that no matter what, you have to respect your instincts and remember what keeps you happy. I took a chance coming here, and though "someone" thinks I didn't give enough to make it work (debatable, but I think I did), I'm not happy. Denver has been calling my name for years; it's time to find out.
I'm packing up my bedroom furniture, tv/stereo, computer, couple Ikea chairs, and three bikes :D and heading to LoDo to crash with a good friend and get m'self a job and a place to live in the city somewhere, maybe Highland or City Park or Wash Park or hell, maybe even Englewood or DU depending on where the job is. One criterion for the job will be bike friendliness and bike-commutable, of course :)
--short job plug: I'm a veteran web applications guy, currently in C# and asp.net. Can do it all, from reqs to architecture to implementation to QA. Have been a tech lead, analyst, code jock, some PM duties. Believe in having a formal process backbone (currently RUP), but refuse to be paralyzed by it. Comfy with internal and external clients. Have that rare knack of explaining techie stuff to non-techies. Have been told I should teach. end job plug---
So, Snowy, LordOpie, telenick and all you Colorado folks, make room. There's another bike geek heading to Menver---
Best of luck to you, hope the move is safe and the job hunt productive. Colorado offers so much, and the people are the friendliest and most fun, that means so much, ENJOY! A vote here for Washington Park area, pricey but pretty cool community there. Cherry Creek is nice in the same way as Wash Pk, might look there too.
wow, my husband and I were just discussing moving to Colorado 2 minutes before I clicked on this thread!
Good luck, hope the trip goes well...thought on the job front. Check the USAjobs website, if you're willing to live in the springs area the military is desperate for competent civilians to run their IT systems, usually the benefits are good, and the job security is great. Also, airfield perimeter roads on base make great personal time trial courses!

My intuition to do the same thing almost 20 years ago was right. I'll bet yours is too. Welcome.
YIPPIE SUPERDEX!!!!
I'm very excited to hear the GREAT news.
I don't second Colorado Springs, but I'm bias to Denver. I guess you can expect that from the long-time city girl. :)
Well I'll pm you with my number so you can give me a ring when you get in. Lots to show you!!! :D

There is a coach at a university in Denver who is calling my son and trying to get him to come there to go to college and play baseball for him. If Eric goes to Denver, so am I!

Are you sure you want to do that?
It gets cold there and I hear there's this white stuff that comes from the sky. It sticks to the ground, piles up and makes riding/driving miserable... plus it can get in side your shoe and your foot feel uckky all day.

Yeah, Eric's girlfriend is going to move with him if they get married before he goes. When I told her I wanted to move, too, she said "I hope you like to ski!"
I didn't think about that...SNOW! I have only seen snow about 5 times in my life!
Ok, on behalf of ALL COLORADANS it snows here yes, but let me tell you, you can ride in the winter months here in Denver just as much as you can ride in the summer months. I know I have lived here ALL MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!
The snow never stays on the ground that long as like other states. Now if you live in the Mountains its a different story.
So come cause its a great state with great people.

You might like Colorado Springs better, nice size town, fantastic people, mountains right in town!

OK, but you have to admit, I didn't gush like I could have!!
MsVicki, If you move to Colorado I MUST be at your first ski lesson, with my BF snowcam!

Fat Boy votes for Colorado Springs. I really need a riding partner. It is beautiful here. Of course you could split the difference and move to Monument or Castle Rock.

-happy to be here

Damn it all, you're making me want to move to Colorado. :( I should go get myself a security clearance and see if I could get hooked up with IT in the military.
