Hey gnein,
I'll turnabout a post to yours since you graced my sore knees question with an answer. I purchased a United 24" with a Kovachi wheel (Suzue hub, 13 ga. spokes, Sun rim) and a 24x2.125 tire with a max psi rating of 40. As I mentioned, I am about 285 lbs. and have been riding for a couple months. According to John at Unicycle.com, a Kovachi wheel is one of the best around. I don't do any major drops but have done some hopping and riding off curbs and haven't had a problem. The other secret I've learned is that most unicyclists usually run with more pressure in the tires, up to 100% at times. Because of my weight, I pressurize my tire to an additional 50% or 60 p.s.i.
Hope the info helps.

I also noticed that there is a unicycle for sale on ebay that advertises a carbon fibre rim. "Virtually indestructible" the ad says.
Yoopers--- I hope you did not bid on that unicycle because it DOES NOT HAVE A CARBON WHEEL!!!!! The guy selling the uni did not know what he was talking about. It is called a "mag" This particular one was painted. They come new black. The material is NOT carbon. It is ABS PLASTIC. I work at a bicycle shop... that is why I know this. Trust me, you don't want that wheel. Like any other wheel, these bend, and usually come BRAND new bent. Once they are badly bent, there is nothing you can do about it! They do however make carbon wheels. Those are eithor called SPIN, or Spinnergy. Do not buy anything from anyone called SPIN, cause the company recently went out of business. They are also very expensive.

No, I sure didn't bid on the unicycle. I did have my doubts about what the picture showed as my boys have Jugglebug unicycles and the wheel in the picture looked VERY similar to the Jugglebug wheels. Thanks for your tips on carbon fibre wheels.
