hola, as we say down san antonio way. i'm in the midst of rehabbing my eddy merckx criterium frame, goofed up with a super record campy gruppo. man, the lingo comes back to you after 15 years or so....
anyways, it's got shimano pd 7401 pedals on it. my recollection of those puppies is that they locked my feet in one position. in that era there was a lot of discussion about how these type of ski style bindings would grind one's knees into powder because there was no lateral motion. back then, i recall "time" pedals were the only alternative that would allow "float."
a handy google search for new cleats indicates that look brand cleats fit, and not only that, that "red" look cleats allow float.
now, i'm no component historian, but am i missing something? the cleats allow the float? huh? the cleats i have fitted on my greg lemond neon and silver shoes don't allow any float.....
am i to understand that my path to a happy knee is merely the purchase of some "red" look cleats?
as an aside, it's extreme disconcerting to have my pedals referred to as "vintage" it makes me wonder what i am......old?
