Won today by Murilo Fischer - Brazilian with an Italian mother. He has been placing well lately. He has one more year with his current team - Naturino-Sapore di Mare, and then will probably turn to a Pro Tour team. He finished 5th at the Worlds last week.

Petacchi dropped out after about 35 Km, and the reason was described by commentators as "a long, hard season and the disappointment of the Worlds last Sunday."

Grillo and Mori finished 2 and 3. Only 67 of the 131 starters were classified, with Sella being the last classified.

The first part - maybe
The second part - for sure

Deflated would be an understatement for Ale-Jet and probably McEwen as well. More to win next season.

I am excited about Murilo, he is a fine sprinter... however being Brazilian as well it's no surprise I am a fan...

Mauro Ribiero (RMO) won on Bastille Day at the 1991 Tour....robbed Jaja with a late jump for the line from 1500m...

Only Brazillian to win at the Tour?
