i tried to convince my friend to convert a BMX bike he bought for $50 to a fixie for fun, but he never did.
Wow. Quite the gearing there. Well, hey - small wheels can do that!

I've been thinking about turning a 24" BMX cruiser into a fixed gear. I just want to do it for the fun of it. I'm surprised I haven't seen more people do it since tons of fixed riders have a BMX background.
I've never seen a brakeless BMX fixie.
However, I see kids riding brakeless BMX freewheel bikes all the time around here. I guess technically not brakeless... they use huge rubber brake pads on the bottom of their feet.

thats an old skool crank on there--very cool
I did briefly with a 24" BMX- converted it back, since 180mm cranks plus fat platform pedals made pedal strike a serious problem.
Also- ever try going over jumps with a fixed gear? It's an interesting sensation.
If i get around to buying a square taper american bb, i'm going to put some shorter cranks on it and try again.

Yeah, I had one for a little while that i did some travelin with. Dumpstered 90% of it. had to ditch the frame cause i was gettin a ride back to Texas and couldnt fit the whole thing in the car.
They are fun! Bunny hops of fixed are weird but great.
A friend of mine in NYC has one that he built a DuraAce up onto a 20" recumbent wheel so its a bmx with skinny tires. Cool stuff.

I've got a fixed gear bmx that I built up. I'll post photos when I get a chance.

found this one recently. looks like a brakeless bmxie to me!
Oooh, that looks wierd, but kinda cool.
Anyhoo, would skids be easier with small wheels? How about trackstanding?

some flat land riders use fixed hubs, better control for certain tricks...

Pro BMX Flatlander Trevor Meyer rode a fixed wheel back in 2000 for a while.
