Commuting - Tada...I designed this light, no seriously

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Here is a light a colleague and I designed. He did most of the nitty gritty, I came in to solve some of the more difficult problems.

We used to go driving in nature reserves at night with one of these to spot animals. It was a real hoot driving on the freeway, then shooting the beam at the large traffic signs, lighting it up like a searchlight. It uses 2 12V SLVA batteries in a backpack. It would be possible to mount this on a bike, the tube-like light part on the handle bars, it is not that heavy, and the driver electronics closer to the battery pack.

This stuff was done 12 years ago, when I was still in South Africa.
