Mountain Biking - How to clean your camelbak backpack...gloves...

So, after being in the forest for about 6 hours, sweating, running, biking, crossing rivers, and waiting for the EMS, my camelbak backpack (not the bladder) and my gloves have gotten a vomit enducing stench.

Now, how do you clean em? The backpack is a 3L MULE and the gloves are PearlIzumi GelLites.

Should I just dump them in the washing machine? How should I dry them? I don't want to destroy my biking investments.

I haven't found anything online that helped me with proper procedure on how to wash a backpack. Any suggestions are welcome.

I've never had any gel gloves, but my previous pair of gloves went through the washer a couple times to make them smell a little less disturbing. Didn't seem to hurt them.

With my backpacks I try more of a soaking approach and a little hand scrubbing.

If you do a search a lot of people just take there gloves in the shower with them. I figure, as do they, if you use shampoo on your hair why not the gloves? It works, try it.

Wear the gloves and wash your hands. Best safest way to do it.

I've used the machine on all my soft gear. No problems at all. Just make sure you remember to get the bladder out of the Camelbak! I clean my gloves every two rides. They get soooo gross otherwise.

When working in Aruba I turned my Camelbak in to a salt block in a just a few rides. I would just toss it in the machine and wash it as Camelbak told me to do. No problem. Now washing your multi tool will get it really clean but the machine didn't seem to like it much.

Gloves no problem....just air dry them.

Wash stuff in a sink (hand wash) if you're afraid of tearing them up.
I do mine that way all the time....

i toss mine in the washing machine then air dry them so they dun shrink(gloves)

good luck with the bladder, fabreaze is a good idea :)

I took a shower with my bladder, and now its attracting all the girls because I accidentally used AXE's body wash on it ...

as for the backpack, and the gloves
i put them in the washing machine for 37 minutes with half a cup of tide

i dried them for 30 something minutes on a slow setting in the dryer

im pleased with the results as the gloves have shrunk back to their intended size
and the backpack looks damn clean
