I'm looking at getting this awesome frame tonight and plan on useing it at the local velodrome but its got 2 (1mm & 2mm) dents in the top tube...

Will this pose any problems on the track?
Is it possible to pull the dents out?

Thanks!

edit - on the top tube... not sure how long.. no picts till tonight.

1 and 2mm deep? and how long, and where on the tube? if you have pics please post them. dents in a steel frame are less likely to cause catastrophic tube failure than in aluminium.

as for fixing the dents there's a very recent thread on exactly that. i'd use the search

How deep are the dents? They shouldn't be a problem, at least if it's steel. I ride a couple of bikes with dents. The places you really got to watch the dents is the downtube, that's the major load bearing tube in the main triangle.

i'll save you the trouble, if the tube is structurally damaged (use your judgement, if its bowing or bent forget it) then you can get a framebuilder to fix it correctly, if its cosmetic put a sticker over it. in the future keep your nice bikes nice and abuse your beater bikes.

top tube dents are usually nothing to worry about.
