Training & Nutrition - Cookies?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Most of the posts here are about which high protein or energy gels you should eat, so I thought I'd change it up a bit and ask which cookies people like. You can't always stick to your tight training diet, so what's your favorite kind of cookie? Any other foods or drinks that you just can't go without that aren't quite by the book?
As for me, I love these cinnamon cookies made by LU called "Le Bastogne." I shove some in my jersey sometimes. I also love rehydrating with coca-cola. I saw some pro on cycling.tv doing it, so it can't be that bad.

MMmm...droooool.....coooookies. I love cookies more than any other food. Cookies are most definitely the bane of my training diet. Potato Chips, soft driks, candy, crackers, booze and ice cream I can do without but never cookies. And cookies must NEVER be eaten without several glasses of cold milk (low fat of course) My favourites are as follows. (I live in South Korea so it's slim pickins these days)
- Chewy Chocolate Chunk (Pepperidge Farms??)
- Oreo Chocolate
- Chips Ahoy
- My Grandmothers Oatmeal Raisin
- Warm chewy homemade peanut butter cookies
and my favourite
- chocolate chip cookie dough (not a cookie but the essence of all things cookie like)
Now I can't resist. I guess it's off to the shop for a fix.

Fig Newtons -- best of both worlds.
Flat Coca Cola, right? Wasn't there a commercial in the late 70's or early 80's showing Keanu Reeves rehydrating with a Coke after a bike race? Personally, I like to rehydrate with either beer or a gin-and-tonic ;)

Did you spell rehydrate right? ;)
I love Oreos. My favorite non-commercial cookie is one my wife makes. It's butter, sugar, flour, almond extract. No eggs, the leavening is all done by creaming the butter and sugar.

I'm trying this recipe tonight. I love Alton Brown. (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_13617,00.html) I'm making them for my girlfriend, but i'm sure i'll try atleast one. My favorite is peanut butter cookies.

My mommy makes the best chocolate chip cookies ever. I prepare for rides by eating Tommy's chili cheese fries and burgers.

forget cookies. My fiancee's peanut butter oreo pie.
Fig Newtons. No contest.

My GF just brought me some cookies last night. A batch with semi-sweet chocolate chips, some with M&Ms, some with peanut-butter chips. Unfortunately.... there's none left to take on today's ride... if there is a ride.. damn rain! :(

I make some killer gingersnaps. With chopped up candied ginger in them. Mmmm, ginger!

Newman's Own "Fig Newmans", much tastier then the originals.

Monster cookies. Greatest ever.
Basic rundown. Peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chips, M&M's, brown sugar, vanilla and the rest of the basic cookie ingredients. Pain in the butt to make but holy cow, I can eat a dozen plus at one time. Actually make great recovery food after a good mtn bike ride.

Wait, where did you learn of monster cookies? There's somebody I know who makes a cookie by the same name, with a remarkably similar recipe. Everything you mentioned except M&M's. They're great, I often eat them before, during, and after . . . mountain bike rides. You're freaking me out!

If you have a Costco membership, try some Aussie Bites--- they are tasty and pretty healthy too, made with rolled oats, honey, dried apricots, shredded coconut, etc. They are great before a ride/run, and that's coming from a guy who usually hates cakes/cookies/pastries.

Pumpkin chocolate chip.
Skeptical track racers transform into gooey chocolate-pawed kids with one bite.

Back to Nature Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies.
Fig Newtons although they get kinda messy on the bike.

Dude, cookies are my _kryptonite_! One cookie just tastes like... more. I actually have to avoid them.
I've moved to low-cal energy bars with a lot of flavor, like the GoLean ones. Not a cookie, but darn tasty! :-)

I only eat cookies made in Belgium or based on recipes form the region. I'm hoping some of their national talent rubs off on me.
