I have narrowed it down to:

Gan Well Pro (business cycles)
Custom Waterford, lugged
Custom Yamaguchi
Custom Pegoretti Luigino Pista

Other distractions in the back of my head:
steelman
cinelli

I will make my own choice in the end, but I am curious to hear everyone's musings on these options. This will be mainly ridden in the streets of NYC and occassionally at the track.

I'd go with the custom Yamaguchi if you have the dough, still a lot less than the waterford.

yeah, for some reason I would say that the waterford is the least interesting of the choices for me.

the pegoretti lu(i)ginos are a very nice, traditional-looking, frameset. i guess it just depends on what you're going for. the yamaguchi's are super nice as well, but tend to have a more modern, as it were, look. waterford is boring.

if you don't have very particular needs in terms of the geometry, then the gan well, or maybe a nagasawa, could be a very good option.

Yeah, Johnny's a great guy and he's local. Frames look pretty nice as well. There's also Independent Fabrications up in Boston, though they are sorta pricey.

If it was me I'd still go with Yamaguchi, good prices and a lot of experience.

Here's a vote for the Steelman -- they're beautiful, Brent is a great guy, and you'll likely have one of the only ones in NYC. At least give him a call to talk about what you're thinking of geometry- and tubing-wise...

And the surprise ending is: NO NEW CUSTOM BIKE FOR ME!

I just scored a vintage 3Rensho track bike with full D/A...that will have to do.

Also got a KHS aero pursuit bike in my size!

They should be here by Friday and I will post pics. Two bikes for less than the price of a new custom frame!

58cm, white paint

I live in a very secure location with an attack cat.

The bikes will be delivered on Friday, supposedly, and I will post pics this weekend.

I think I hate you more than anyone else here, if it's the 3Rensho I'm thinking about. From Ted?

Dude! That frame rocks! But, on the cranks, why the drilled out spider arms? And, on the rear wheel, why the screw-on cap on the tube valve? Seriously, those have got to go.

I like the thickish fork. Pretty sweet looking. Nice chrome stem and kudos on the old-school Regal saddle. Are those 26" wheels or 700c? What size is the frame?
