Been with them about a month now. There's a distribution center very nearby... next days mail kind of close :) There's only been one instance where a title in our queue has come from far away (Flordia). All the movies are clean and playable. Depending on timing we can watch at least three movies a week, sometimes four. Where you going to rent 12 movies a month for ten bucks... and we don't even have to drive to the video store! :D

it's a very good service and pretty reliable. i've had it over 2 years now and i've only recieved the wrong movie once. and when that happens all you do is check a box indicating wrong movie and drop it in the mail and they send you a new one. it's so easy to use it's just become a part of my life now.

I think its great, overall. The turnaround is faster than I would have expected.
Really good selection, good turnaround time, and a queue to keep track of the movies you'd like to see. Once or twice we've received a disk that was in such bad shape that part of it wouldn't play, but that has been rare. The recommendation service has helped me find things I might not have known about otherwise. On the whole, I recommend it.

Sounds good, never used it though. Can't really justify the expense when I hardly watch movies(once every couple months maybe) and have access to many movies/programs throught my cable company(included in monthly service). If I didn't have my current setup, I'd definitely give it a try.

if you don't watch at least a movie a week, you're wasting money. That being said, I love it---
[edit]netflix, that is. not wasting money

it's not just movies either. they have documentaries, TV series, etc. i've been watching a lot of the PBS documentaries and almost any science or educational film i can get my hands on. i use it for movies too, but mostly for the other offerings.

Another fan. We have two dist. centers fairly close and sometimes go through as many as five movies a week, usually two or three tho. Amazing selection compared to the local video joints, with lots of older stuff and independent films(Try and find Vulgar or Dark Days at BlockBuster).

I'm a fan :D although our DVD player sucks like crap and freezes up... not to mention, we don't have a remote for it :( The distrobution center is about 50 miles away (salem, or), so our movies usually comes within 24-48 hours :D

you know a new DVD player can cost as little as $30. probably crappy but at the price you just keep buying them when they break...

I've had Netflix for longer than I can remember (I'm even grandfathered into the old rate plan). Here are the key reason why it's great.
1. The queue: It solves the problem of standing around in front of the new releases section trying to think of what you want. Or trying to remember that one movie that that one guy recommended that one time. As you think of movies, or read about them, or talk to friends then you can just add them to your queue and forget about them. Eventually they show up at your house. I miss less movies now that I want to see.
2. The flexibility: The ability to watch when you want is awesome. It's great always having 3 or 4 movies to pick from depending on what mood you're in that night.
3. No late fees.
4. No driving to the video store, waiting in line, dealing with all that crap.
5. Better selection. I haven't been in a video store in years but they have TV series compilations, old movies, documentaries, music videos, just about anything that's out in DVD. And it's searchable (unlike your video store).
6. Automated recommendations. The rating/recommendation system is actually not bad at all.
You do have to watch about four movies a month to make the fee worth it. (Or fewer, if you're one of those chronic late fee payers)
My wife and I like the service. Our kids went with Blockbuster though. Seems they liked the 2 movies from the store offer in order to please the baby when she wanted to see a movie. They do complain that BB doesn't seem to have the breadth of inventory and certainly keeps fewer copies available. They are always commenting that BB doesn't have the latest releases available. Netflix, on the other hand, has always shipped my the very next movie in my queue no matter how recent the release.
