hello all.

I have just moved in the Uk and i would like to buy an mtb.
So far i have ended up into the following bikes and i would like your opinion on that.
Rocky Mountain Elevation
Trek 6700
Giant XtC 860
Scott Elite Racing

Personally i see the rocky mountain as the best...easton frame etc....and also i like a bike that is a good investment so that i can do future high end upgrades to the frame.
Please Help me out.
Also looking fellow riders for XC in Cardiff ,Wales,Uk

thanks
Yannis

Do some searching around here at past posts. This question has been answered many times in many ways.

BTW, there is a pretty large contingent from riders from "across the pond".

Good Luck

I'm Rocky biased myself.

Get that one :)

Hey MtnBikerChk, how are you and IRB doing these days? Been spending a lot of time over at the monkey? I've been there a little more often now that some of the trash is being thrown out.

Yes, we know you're biased. BTW, shouldn't you change your name to RockyMtnBkrChk?

I prefer Kona's and Rockymountains or sometimes norcos (depends on the type of riding)...

oh, one more comment - I know the Scotts are SUPERLIGHT - they make a great frame - and being in the UK, you might get a better deal than we do here.

Personally I'm Giant biased, but I'd try them out before I decided, even a ride round the shops carpark is better than just picking on spec.

Which of these bikes is more suitable for wet, muddy Welsh hills, rather than dry and dusty California ?

If that's the criteria, I'd say go with the Rocky Mtn.

Designed in Canada where it's wet, muddy, rocky, and rooty all the time!

Again I would say Kona, Rocky Mountain and Norco. They were all built with the north shore / squamish / whistler in mind. We have some deep and wet settings up here. For xc bikes I prefer this order in the hardtails

1 - Rock Mountain
2 - Kona
3 - Norco
