change your avatar. Someone else allready has it. Tell them you are just going to ride a bike and get a bmx bike and then go do tricks. They dont need to know all the details.

I had the same problem when I bought my first motorcycle at 17... just do it anyway, they'll get used to it... just don't go into detail about any injuries you might get. After you ride for a while and don't kill yourself, they'll accept it.
yeah, my folks were a little hesitant at first, but they adjusted. they just don't wanna see their kids getting hurt. what helps alot is to arrange a compromise. wear knee and shin pads, which will cut down on ALOT of bloodloss. and they don't bother or hamper you. see, the beauty of doing that is your folks are more comfortable, and because of the reduced chance of injury, you will try more, and basically progress faster. good luck.

If you really must, wear a helmet, how can they tell you to not ride if you wear a helmet? How old are you by the way?

Just tell them to forget about BMX, you're going to hang out with the druggies at the park instead. And yes, wear a helmet.
