Hello all - just discovered the forum on a recommendation from a poster on the forums at bicycling.com - glad to be with you.

Let's see - by way of introduction - I'm a 36 year old roadie, who occasionally takes a MTB off the road, but I'm too much of a chicken to do the truly gonzo stuff.

I've been road riding more or less seriously (sometimes VERY less seriously) for over 20 years, on a progression of bikes from a Huffy 10 speed in junior high, to a Takara roadie that I had for over 10 years, then onto a Gitane 12 speed with Suntour components (yikes!), and Cannondale SR500 that I got after wrecking the Gitane in a crash, to my current ride, a brand spanking new (as of 7/30) Douglas Fusion from Colorado Cyclist that's a joy to ride.

The other bike is Mongoose NX 7.1 ATB. Don't laugh :p - it's a bike shop 'goose - not the Wally world variety, and it has survived some amazing abuse - the components aren't so hot, but I'll almost certainly keep the frame and upgrade as the other bits wear out.

As to location, I'm currently living in Denver - been here for six years, and love it.

Welcome

I am in Parker(right off of the Cherry Creek Trail), almost 63 yo, drive a Lemond BA and a Specialized HR, my wife rides also (Cannondale road bike and Specialized HR) and we enjoy the cherry creek trail near Parker, the Platte River Greenway, Chatfield, Cherry Creek State Park, Confluence Park and thereabouts, riding from Frisco over Vail Pass, among other rides.

I have done a couple of Ride the Rockies, the Santa Fe Century, the Elephant Rock (never again), the HardScrabble (got turned back at 30 miles by the heavy snow).

I started riding 4.5 years ago and my wife 3 years ago.

Again, welcome. Maybe we will run into each other on the trails some day!!

Thanks for the welcome!

We live in Congress Park - and the CC trail is my regular workout ride - I pick up the trail at the Denver Country Club, head down to and around the Cherry Creek Reservoir, and then back home - 30.5 miles door to door. I'm on the trail two or three mornings a week from about 5 am to 6:40 or thereabouts.

Haven't done any of the organized rides yet - mostly over the last 4 years or so it's just been family outings with the kids in the trailer - but this year I decided to get serious - so hopefully next year I'll get out and do a few of the big group rides. I'd love to do the BTC - we'll see if I can get to that level of conditioning by next June.

See you around -

OD

Heading your way in December! I've gotten a job offer in Golden starting first of the year. Looking to move to the Evergreen area. We'll see!

BTW, I own a LeMond Zurich, a Cannondale F2000SX, a Specialized P.3, a Haro 2.0 24" cruiser, an old Schwinn Tandemn.

My wife has a Cannondale R4000, a Cannondale Raven, a GT Backwoods, and the stoker position on the tandemn.

I'm curious - what draws you to Evergreen?

I'd be pleased to share some thoughts, if you would like - or would be pleased to shut up if you would like, also.

Hope everything works out OK for Golden.
