hi, im about to change a flat i got on my back tire on my fixed and im just wondering if there is anything i need to know about putting the wheel back on. eg how tight the chain should be etc... i just dont want to do anythign wrong and ruin my bike without even knowing it while riding it. thanks!

Just make sure you've topped off your spoke fluid before putting the wheel back on

get a big, big jar of ol' sheldon's brand spoke fluid from your lbs (or lightning brand, which is njs ceryified). ping each of the spokes in turn. the ones with the lowest pitch need topping off. use a turkey baster, and be careful not to invert the spoke when topping off. it's weird, you have tyo almost get upside down to get t the last ones

Before my chain popped I had no prior back wheel surgery knowledge and I thought my bike would never ride right again. Un-did the bolts, gave it alittle cleaning, but it roughly into place, put the chain on then kind of held the bike steady and pulled on the back wheel to get the chain tight. Once I did that I gradually released some tension. Screwed the bolts back on making sure the wheel was straight, you can tell easily if its not. Greased up the chain and took it out for a spin. Chain hasnt popped off since. So I guess I did alright.

I have no idea what a proper chain tension looks like but you can tell when its too tight and when its too loose. I keep mine so it makes a slight binding noise but thats just because Im scared to death of riding a loose chain. See what works for you.
