so, there are tons of trails just north of the city in westchester county - but like most new yorkers, i'm sans car. (duh, that's why i have the bike) - what sucks is whenever i want to ride, i need to rent a car - has anyone found any trails that one can get to using public transportation - just like the metro north, jersey transit, lirr, etc etc...?
i'd love to get out of the city more to ride - so if anyone can throw me a clue, that would be swell.
cheers,
-joshua...

I know what you mean... I live in Brooklyn and it's hard to find stuff to ride.
Especially if u live in manhatten and have no car... then ur screwed.
Good news is that C.L.I.M.B. has gotten a grant from the NY parks dept to make some trails in a manhatten park. I think they got like 100 grand. so it should be good.
I forgot where it will actually be, so here's their site

On that site you can find places to ride in Long Island as well, and i'm sure you can take the train to them. You can probably even take a train to westchester!
As for me I usually ride in the parks along sHore road in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn...
It's not great, but it is the best available to me.
