I'm trying to eat healthier and maintain a steady weight of 195 lbs. ( I lost 15 lbs since I started riding on weekends regularly for the past couple of months). I don't eat a lot of fruits, only bananas.:(
Is there some way I can make sure I have a good diet during the day to get all the nutrients and protein? Getting carbs are easy, bagels are everywhere.
I would love to get more protein without eating a lot of eggs.

Personally to get a decent amount of protein without breaking the bank I need to use supplements. Either a protein shake mixture or bar. Or Both. In one shake you can get anywhere from 30-50 g protein. Most bars have around 30. 1 4oz chicken has in the 30 range as do most meats (I am being very general here). With a good breakfast, lunch and dinner or regular amounts of eggs, dairy and meats along with some supplementation you will see a marked increase in protein.
As for the rest. Just try haveing veggies or fruits with all of your proteins and you will get most nutrients. Multivitamins as well will fill in any holes left by the veggies and fruits.

I get most of my protein from fish. Try a smoked salmon bagel.

Many types of legumes (beans) are a good, low-fat source of protien, if you want to stay away from the meats. Maybe a good schmear of P-nut butter on your bagel? mmmmm,
crap, now I want one of those.

I tried a bagel with peanut butter this morning, it was good. Now I'm bursting with energy.:)
I spoke to a friend about this and she also suggested the bagel and peanut butter. Thanks guys.

Low fat cottage cheese is a nice boost to protein intake without adding a lot of fat & carbs (71% protein).
