Here a few pics of my home town and the surrounding area. Some of these pictures were taken during bicycle rides. Others were taken during over night mountaineering trips on 14,000 foot peaks. The remaining are just pedestrian shots.

That must be incredible to live in a place like that. Some people go their whole lives and don't ever see scenery like that. Most others give up thousands in airfare and hotel rooms to be near places like that.

Nice! I had a friend that lived in Leadville for a year. The worst year of his life, but not because of Leadville - he loved the town. He used to do web work for Top of the World Cyclery, which has moved off the top of the world to Moab, UT. I still have a bunch of TotW socks that he gave me! I loved it there, when I wasn't gasping for air!

Sweet pictures.... just a correction, though... that's not Mary Jane at the top of Berthoud Pass.... that was actually Ski Berthoud Pass (It was never in operation any of the many times I went over the divide there...). Mary Jane is the left side of Winter Park ski resort, correct? [Edit... just re-read your post... you state the chairlift is NEAR WP/MJ.... my bad!]

Anyway, awesome pics. I remember the time my dad and I had dinner at one of the restaurants in Leadville on the main drag. What a great town (wheezing to catch my breath!). Do you ever get to ski over at Ski Cooper? Went there one time and they had to start up the chairlift for us because we were the first folks there that day... practically had the whole place to ourselves! (note... Ski Cooper is a different place than Copper Mountain...)

I was in your neck of the woods last August ...between 54th and 53rd on 6th... right across from MOMA. I like the Big Apple. I ran around CP every morning ...lots of cyclists there. The food is pretty tummy too ....Il Gato Pardo, Bici, The Penninsula, many more yummy places. I saw a Dominican Republic Parade that lasted for hours. I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on Broadway. I saw the same bums every morning. I partied every night. Then I dragged my tired ass home.

Thanks ...I sometimes forget what it is like looking from the outside. I grew up in Southern MD in a place called the Moyoane Reserve (http://www.fergusonfoundation.org/moyoane.html).

I knew them... now a coworker of mine and her boyfriend own the same place and also run a bicycle shop there called the Bicycle Haven.

I've skied Chicago Ridge a few times. That's the area above Ski Cooper that is SnowCat accessible.

Great shots Telenick, making me pretty homesick here dude!! The shot of the Delaware Hotel brings back a flood of memories. I would stay there, and hang out listening to a band that played only Grateful Dead tunes, sipping on suds to sooth the tele muscles. Those WERE the days man, glad to see that it hasn't changed too much over the years.
Another time I stayed at the Super 8, well there was a dog sled race in town that weekend, dogs heckled one another all night long, gotta love Leadville!

Yes, but I just tell him that it will make him faster for racing next year!!!! I think it was already hard enough to get him the roadie, so I couldn't fight to much with the single speed.
We are going to ride Lookout this Sunday early morning. I'll tell you how it goes!!!

That picture of the shadow of Quandry is fine! Have you skied that mountain? That NE face from the summit is fun, got to dig a pit first though. We skined to tree line, then the ridge was wind blown so walked up to the top.
That's a fine shot!
Did you have to rope up for Bross? or did your Grandmother lead on mountain bikes!! :-)

She once led Carlos Carsolio up the Aconcagua South Face on a unicycle while setting fixed ropes in the more difficult pitches. The story about Bross is myth.

Nice pictures. I’ve always liked goats.
I've been to Loveland Pass. Passed through after a day at Copper on our way back to Minturn. Unfortunately for us it was a very cloudy and grey day, so visibility was not so good. That was somewhere around 98-99?

The more I think about it the more I wonder whether Colorado is where I should move :p

When I lived in Colorado I heard it said that the only thing wrong with Colorado is that it's too far from God and too close to Texas.

If it wasn't for the Manhattan Bar and the Lutheran Church, those pictures could almost pass for Switzerland!

(Lovely area you live in.)
