You kno how bmx handlebars are sometimes kinda long, is it a good idea to cut them to make them shorter or is there a reason they are long. Some times when i try to do a xup they hit me in the thy

It's fine to cut them. Put your hands on them and mark where the bar ends.. use either a pipe cutter or a hacksaw to cut off whatever you need to.

Plugs in the ends too, unless you need a core sample.

I've broken pipe cutters on CrMo bars before (they're not designed to cut tempered steel)...a hacksaw is the way to go. And always measure twice and cut once.
