WEll, here I am stuck in a hotel, traveling for work. No bike riding in the morning nor the next day either. What do you all do when you have to travel and don't get to ride? I dread going down to one of those stupid hotel exercise rooms but might have to.

(P.S.--> I used to spend the whole time in the bar on trips like this. Now I have given that up and can't have any fun. )

When I traveled to San Francisco, I'd catch a show at the O'Farrell Theater, that was interesting. Is there a multiplex nearby, a flix that you've been wanting to see may be there.

Use the hotel stationary and start writing secret messages. Hide them all over the room where the maid isn't likely to look (behind the furniture, taped underneath the sink, etc.). Hide them all over the hotel. Giggle to yourself that at least one person is going to be confused for at least one second. Or not. I don't know. I hate hotels.

I do traveling lunges down the hallways. Then I run up the stairs to the next floor and repeat. ALL floors. Well, not if it's a high rise (then again there aren't too many Super 8 high rises!) Yeah...I look silly. But by the time I'm done my mind is off the fact that I can't ride my bike. And I get a great work out. Beats riding a decrepit stationary bike watching re-runs on Nick at Night.

There's an exercise called Hindu Squats that apparently a whole exercise system is based on, you try to get to where you can do something like 500 of the things, interesting. You can do stuff like that, pushups, bodyweight lunges, etc all while watching TV!

Brilliant!!

I love that idea....I may try that next time I have to travel. Maybe make them "secret admirer" letters to the maid. :D Of course, I don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel whose maid could speak english, but that's not the point. ;)

The last time I was in a hotel. Man that was scary. I was there for entry into the Navy, I think. Either that or itwas for DEP which is the program you are in right before entering the service.

Anyways, I was trying to sleep and the person i was room mates with brought his girlfriend in - and well yeah. Later on I got a prank call, and not being a novice around pranks I thought that it was real so I ended up in some other room on some other floor with some people who were there for the same thing I was except they were in the Army. Well apparently the recruiter that they were with had set a mandate of - nobody was to be up after xPM or something crazy. All i remember is that I ended up being on the outside porch in the cool evening while they did a room search. Definitely not boring :p

Any pics or videos?

You could probably make a few bucks off of it now on Ebay or selling it to "the right website". ;)

Sometimes you can arrange with an area LBS for a loaner. Might cost a little though. I did this out in Santa Barbara once, they provided a nice De Rosa for me. Unfortunately business was too hectic for me on that trip and I couldn't take advantage of the opportunity.

I bring a pair of Rollerblades with me and go out for a tour, I get exercise that way and I see what's going on. And I don't have to run.

Consider it a recovery time and ride strong when you get back.

Yep. I've not ridden much in the 2 weeks. I'm hoping that Ill have a good ride when I do finally get motivated enough to get back on the bike. Won't happen today as I'm supposed to deploy a website after I get off of work. Sucks when your work is IT related and you come home to do more IT related crap.

It's a 20-25 minute drive. It's not bicyclable as it goes from the top of san antonio to close to the center of San Antonio.

Just out of curiousity, why do you ask?
