Commuting - God bless Koolstop pads

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Car stopped suddenly this morning in front of me. Raining, greasy road, jammed on brakes, bike kicked but stopped. Guy behind me on biek ran straight into the back of me, wiped out all over the road. Broke my rear mudguard. He was ok but very shocked.
All I can say thanks to regular maintenance and koolstop pads for sticking me to the road ............

+1 for KoolStops, especially on older bikes...

Heck yes...the salmon pads are miracles for wet weather duty. I actually refuse to use anything else.

are there Koolstops for all kinds of brakes?
do you guys replace them often?
Wide range. Only when they are worn
Do you use the salmon for wet and hope your rims dont wear out ? Or do you use the grey for all weather and save rims a bit ?

I use Salmon all year round. Don't think they are any harder than any other pad. Clean them and your rim every month with alcohol - I use metholated spirits. This keeps everything ship shape.

The salmon ones are the most rim friendly in the koolstop linup. Use em on all my bikes.
