Hello, my name is Chris Hernando, a college student from Buena Park, Orange County CALIFORNIA. Biking scene really isn't that hot over here from what I see, but it IS starting to pick up slightly. I started out late last year '04 with a used 15" Marin CroMo Bear Valley-enough to spark my interest-started the usual newbie parts slapping, then upsized to an 18" Trek 4300-let my friend used the Marin for now. A neighborly coversation picked up a "mystery" road bike for $10 minus wheelset-I got lucky and found out it was a higher end Raleigh with Campy Headset, Dura Ace Brakes and some other goodies. I found a wheelset, slapped em on and fell in love with road bikes. Searching the net for ideas and more info on my Raleigh led me to Sheldon Brown's Fixed page. I stripped it down, had it powdercoated and it's all "ONE-Love" right now. I still use the Trek for beater runs -it's basically my BIKE SUV. Biking has really gotten me into shape over this year (200 beginning this year to 175 right now) and I'm hoping I can wake up other people around the hood. Then again this IS Orange County...but I like challenges.
