i have a problem and i don't quite know what it is before i go to my LBS i was wondering if any of you could be of assistance.

It started today, i just installed my chainguide and new crank the other day and i rode it for like 10 minutes after i finished the install and it worked fine. Then today i was out riding and i'd been riding probably 5 minutes and my chain started trying to shift to a lower gear every pedal stroke it would "hop" up on my cassettebut never actually shift so it would go up a bit then drop back to the ring it was on., and i was unable to gain acceleration due to it hopping so much it feels as if it's like shifting under load, thats what it feels like. In the end it ended up breaking my chain so i bought a new chain an hour agoe installed it and rode it and now it continues to just hop and hop and hop and hop. I can't accelerate cause its such a god awful noise of the chain "popping" and soudning like a shift under load. I put some "Kano Kroil" on it, to try to loosen up the chain, it does it less but still does it just as bad. Any help would be much appreciated if that makes sense i described it the best i could or should i just leave it to my LBS

What kind of chain?
If you squeeze the pin & side plate to much when installing, the link will feel very tight.
If so just put the chain tool on the opposite side you installed it from and loosen the link with tool - turn the tool a little at time until the link loosens.

i'll try that. It's a shimano IG-30(I think), IG-something chain. I'll have to try that. Any other advice from anyone

What type of guide did you get? Sounds like a possible roller alignment problem.

If it's a stiff link, move the chain slowly and look at it go through the rear deralier cage, you will see the stiff link as it passes around the small gears.
With a new chain there should only be one stiff link - the link you put together hopefully.
You will feel a stiff link in every gear!
If your problems are only in particular gear combinations, it's either a worn ring or cog, or the derailer just needs to be adjusted.

Ok, simple answer, the deraillieur is out of adjustment. Do not touch the limit screws, see the knob at the end of the deraillieur, twist that a quarter turn until it stops doing that, if not the same can be done at the shifter, still a quarter turn at a time.

SIMPLE FIX- stiff link, i went over the whole chain and found it took that link apart and greased it good then reassembled and worked it til it wasn't sticking anymore. Did some hard riding with hard acceleration after that and problem solved

I made sure when i put on the guide that it was aligned, it took three of the included washer on each ISCG mounting bolt to line it up but it's really nice
