Introductions - Hello from New York (Long Island)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Found this site from a local MTB site. No, no mountains here but some pretty good trails.
Road is my first love, (Trek 2300) but sometimes when it's too hot, or too windy, or when you just need to be in the woods having fun jumping over things trails are where ya need to be. (Jamis HT)
At the ripe old age of 49, I have been biking my whole life and am looking to a trip to Vegas soon to get away from the bright lights, sin city and be on some new trails.

WELCOME to the forums. There will be a lot of bikers converging on Vegas in a few weeks for the Inter BIke Show. Is that why you are going? Or do you just like dry desert riding?
I wish that's why I was going. Just non bike business. But looking forward to a half day out in the dessert.
Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome Eureka
Welcome to the forum. Can you recommend a good place to ride in LI? I'm from Bklyn and just want to ride on smoooooth roads for a change. Do you know any good (smooth & quiet) bike trails that I can bring my GF on? I don't mind going out to Nassau or Sulfolk county if there's a really good place.
Thx.
Hey,
Thanks for the welcome.
Some great places to ride on some trails. Best place to start is Bethpage Stat Park off route 135 in Nassau. You have a choice of a paved bike path that goes for miles or lots of trails in the woods that go all over the place.
Check out www.visionmtb.com for local trail information.
If you want a place to ride the roads the service road to the LIE is a great place to go. Believe it or not Sunday mornings are quiet, with lots of riders out, and have good shoulders.
Let me know what else you need and thanks agin for the welcome.
Another good bike path is alongside the Wantagh Parkway to Jones Beach. The beginning is in Cedar Creek Park, which is on Merrick Road about 1/4 mile east of Wantagh Parkway. After October 1 you can continue on to ride on the boardwalk at Jones Beach.
I see you have a lot of time on your hands with 400+ posts since May 2002. You must really be a bike nut.:D:beer:
I just got into biking May '02. Addicted to the speed.
