Does removing a Crank with a splined bottom bracket require a different crank puller than one used with a square taper bottom bracket?

Not sure, but I thought the spined Shimano's came with self extracting crank bolts eliminating the need for a crank puller. Could just be the higher end ones though.

If you're talking about the crank arm probably not, but it would be wise to ask someone, (your local shop), who can SEE it.

If your're talking about your bottom bracket , just get the right tool. If your bottom bracket is "Italian" don't forget the threads on the left side are right handed not left as on "English" BBs

All crank arms on the newer bottom brackets are self extracting.the bottom bracket itself requires a splined tool shimano ect.

Thanks for the help. Good thing I asked before I went and tried to yank the crank with a crank puller.

Does self extracting mean that I just loosen the crank bolt in the normal fashion (ie: counterclockwise) and the crank will come off?
