Mountain Biking - Yes, I'm going to build it. Name the frame.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It won't be flexy and yes it will be rootbeer. It also has the axle path of a horst link bike.

Omnes or Insignibus Maxime Armis.
Or Rooty.
The black dots are pivot points and the thin grey line is where the spring goes ? Whats the grey line on the downtube?

Go with something western. Wyoming uses lots of brown so guy with some kind of horse name: Buckin' Bronc Brown, Clydesdale, etc... there are really a limitless number of untapped resources in the ol' cowboy realm.

outta what? please make sure you use thick material and handle the welds well.
maybe you should make a prototype first... and let someone you hate ride it.

Call it the Brown Frown.
A couple questions, if you don't mind.
How will you do the steel monococque at the top/downtube junction?
How will you handle the issue of the rail apparatus? If you make the pivot small, it will be flexy and the bearings wont last, but if you make it too large, the downtube will grenade.
And what the heck is that brace between the linkage(s)?
Will this be your first frame build?
Is that the final design drawing?
Enquiring minds want to know.

please correct me if i'm wrong, but i think your Lower pivot point on the "slider" bearing,,needs to start from the top for it to work...!?!?
also i'm aware this is just a squematic with out much of a scale, if scale was the case you will have the chainrings as "wheelsz" since the rings will be touching the ground do to the super Bottom bracket height,,well maybe the really high rear axle, let me tell on my Nicolai M-pire(9inch rear travel i have a BB that is almost at 15" and i touch the ground with my pedals if i'm not careful
anyway goood for yoyu for trying,, maybe this photos of the new Yeti can help you,, i got to ride it and is really nice in a lot of diferent ways

I was afraid of that. I just couldn't come up with the term last night

Whats so bad about the rail system? Or what type of downfalls could he expect with it?
Its two load bearing surfaces that slide against each other while exposed to dirt and mud. I could be wrong, but I cant see a happy ending there. Any slack that develops between the rail bearing pads and the rail will have to be supported somewhere, most likely by the other bearing surfaces increasing the load on them and increasing their wear rate too. The rail itself is not so bad but the exposure to a hostile environment is. But hey It could work very well which for some people would mean more than shorter service life.
EDIT: I'm looking at the yeti as I write this, Kona24's diagram is too general to be specific about the details of his rail system, but the comment about exposed bearing surfaces stands.

it looks like a cartoon prototype. have fun building a bike you dont even know what it is. since when do they make ovalized bottom brackets?

Are you going to model this in 3d and cycle it thru before cutting material? Virtual prototypes save lots of money and more importantly time...

I know what it is, it's going to be a dh racing frame, I just don't know what to name the frame, and how do you know that I don't have a working model up and going(which I have), why would I post a working model if there is a possibility of someone stealing the design and calling it their own, I'd rather post a crudely drawn frame on paint than a working model the people who know me, know what it will likely be once I post the actual bike.(It might not even be a full suspension bike.)
Let me guess, you're the type to build a working model and post pics of it to have the design stolen.

so... was that a trivia question? If you know what it is, but your building a prototype and don't even know if it's gonna be full suspension or not, how can your prototype be a working model. I hope you actually build a bike, if you have the capabilities to build a bicycle, how can you get "stumped" on something so simple as the name for your own creation?

The working model frame is built. Working model is another way of using prototype. You need to make a design, before you build a prototype, from prototype it's on to a production model, in my case, a personal bike. The DH FS is still in design, I decided to make a DH FS bike of the like of that paint picture, but it will be a year or two on that. The prototype is a DH hardtail, I've just been really quiet on the project. I'm going to be making an autocad version of the FS bike soon.
I'll give a preview of the prototype, low bb height.

Cool!, look forward to seeing. Custom building my own frame is something I'd like to have time for.

How full is your glass? There is a difference between being realistic and being grumpy. I have seen custom bikes actually made that started out in a similar fashion. It happens, heck people did it for years without CAD.
simple as the name for your own creation
Branding is far from simple. A good name could sell a bike, a bad name could bury it.

im not so sure this will go down to well if anyone of yetis 'mechanics' see's that... Not to ask where are you going to get the rail blade? those things are so tech. did you now see the yeti interbike thing on pinkbike.com? I have one thing to say to you, your nuts... but if you pull that off, pizzaz. are you welding it or are you getting a company to?

Funny thing, I was going to suggest it myself, reason being;
The Nunavit Territory in northern Canada had a referendum on what to call the territory.
The most popular name was of course, "Nunavit".
The second name of choice was "Bob".
So do the right thing, make those 3 idiot's living in the middle of butfuq nowhere happy.
Name him Bob.
