Mountain Biking - frequency/skill/ride quality?? (not what you think)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've noticed that when I increase my rides to more than two per week, I tend to crash more, lose handling skills and the general ride quality goes down. If I stay at two rides, it does'nt matter which two, I ride like a ... well, a really good rider. I rarely crash and my speed is constant. I handle obstacles with ease, for the most part and really come home feeling as though I did something worth while, not to mention fun.
I am wondering what works for others. I assume my situation is due to my other physical intrests and my physical job. It sounds like over training but nothing else suffers, only the rides. I don't mean I come completely unglued, but there is a noticable difference. Any one else have a weird self limiter? This isn't really a question so much as a "I showed you mine, now show me yours" kind of post.

i ride around 3 times a week, but they are all from wednsday-saturday. i dont really see what you described, like every once in a while il get home and say "well that was a waste of time that i will never get back'' most of the time i have great rides because i have been waiting untill the end of the week to get on my bike.

I think it's just off days. Everyone has them once in a while. I also have off days when my balance is not that good and stupid mistakes causes crashes. It happens to the best of us. I also ride everyday :)
