Classic & Vintage - 88 Schwinn made in Chicago?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have an 88 Voyageur and the head badge says Chicago on the bottom. There are no Made in Taiwan stickers (Columbus Tubing) ...could it have been made in Chicago?

Is it lugged or does it look filet brazed? I have a couple of late eighties/early nineties Tempo's that were badged like that but made in Miss. They were from Schwinn's brand new Glenville Miss plant and used Columbus tubing.

It is a lugged bike.
Thanks
Keith
I believe that's "Greenville" MS. My Project KOM-10 was made there, as well, in June 1988. It is one of the last American-made Schwinn frames, with Japanese tubing (Tange Prestige II CrMo) and mostly Japanese components. It's old-school all the way, right down to the U-brake under the chainstays, but it suits me well, and the red-white-and-blue paint scheme turns heads.
Thanks,
Did you paint it RWB or was that the original paint job? I plan to overhaul this bike and do some loaded weekend camping. Haven' decided on wether to repaint, it's dark blue.

pretty sure the Schwinn Factory in Chicago, closed it's doors in 1983 .. 88's would have been made in Mississippi...
