Well, we’ve been riding a Fuji Absolute Tandem since summer, and have thought about upgrading next year. I've had my eye on the Cannondale for some time. Today we were down at the Hilly Hundred near Bloomington, and hit the vendor tent. Lots of neat stuff and some good sales. Side by side were a '05 Cannondale Tandem and a '05 Trek T2000, the Trek had a decent discount so it was only a little more then the Cannondale (also discounted). It must have been a sign. We road the Trek, like it, went over to the other dealer and road the Cannondale and also liked it. Back at the Trek dealer, made a few adjustments and before I knew it, they put a SOLD tag on and it was ours. Not planning to buy a bike today, it was a challenging to get it in the van with all the seats, wife, and 2 kids. First impression; it's very smooth, fits well, fast and light. Just having drop bars will make a big difference. I really liked the disk brakes on the C-dale, as the Trek has Avid shorties, but has a threaded axle for a drum brake. My wife also liked the Trek bar and seat better. It handled very well on our test ride, more controllable then our Fuji, and handled a lot more like my road bike. Anything to look for, I'll be getting a package together this week (cages, computers, bag, etc...). Thanks for looking, I guess we are getting serious; we don't tour, but do enjoy riding together whenever we can.
Love the color from another victim of "seize the moment" acquisitions.

When opportunity knocks: answer!!! You certainly did!
Should be quite a change from the Fuji. However, having said that, the Fuji let you try TWOgetherness at a decent price; got U-2 more knowledgeable on tandems and we are sure you'll recoup most of your original Absolute investment; it'll give someone else an opportunity to give tandeming 'a try.'
With the '06s around the corner, now is certaily a good time to snag a closeout deal on a twicer!
BTW, have ridden the Hilly Hundred loop on a 'tandems only' tour a few years back. Nice riding!
Enjoy the new Trek! . . . we like any color as long as it's RED!

Since you have Flight Deck compatable brifters, stick a Flight Deck on that new puppy and you'll be in heaven. Have fun... OHB

Hey, nice looking bike. A lot like ours before I started adding weight to it. :D

Don't be coy now! How much??? :p Seriously, if you don't mind my asking, it's good to know for competitive pricing purposes.

No Problem.
The Cannondale was $2300 - $230 = $2070 + tax
The Trek was $3300 - $1000 = $2300 + tax
I think we could have been just as happy with the Cannondale, but the Trek, fit as good if not better and was so smooth...

Thanks everyone. We really enjoy riding together so I think we'll log some miles. We might keep the Fuji for awhile, as we have a lot of friends that might like to try it. It's amazing how close the frames are, we might have been able to covert the Fuji to a drop bar, but the Trek is full Ultegra. so apples to apples if we sell the Fuji the cost might have been about the same. I have been impressed by the Fuji frame, and while it's imported it appears very close in quality to the Trek. Fuji keeps the component lower end to keep the price down. Although I had upgraded the brakes, RD, levers, grips. front bar, stem, and added bar ends f/r to get it good to go.
