Mountain Biking - Finally done it ..!

Hit 30 the other day, gave up the **** (as promised), spent my birthday cheque from my grandma on lovely shiny new bits and I'm back on the road (would rather be off the road but compared to Scotland, NORTH WEST ENGLAND SUCKS) !!!

In the two weeks since I fixed her up I have done 199.6 miles - I hope to do a 100 a week. The bits are as follows:

XT V-brakes, mechs and shifter/brake levers (front brakes are going SOON!)

SRAM PC-99 chain

RACEFACE Prodigy XC cranks

Shimano PD-M515 SPD pedals

X-Lite Click-On 7075 seatpost

Titec Berserkr Ti saddle (also going SOON)

X-Lite cross country bar

Salsa stem

Dave Yates fillet brazed 'Columbus Chrom Or' MTB frame

Wheels, front is Mavic 517 on Hope Mono lightweight hub, rear is Mavic 517 on Shimano XT hub

Road tyres are IRC Metro 1.5" cheap semi-slicks.

Comp is a Cateye Cordless 2

I'm enjoying it alot so far but surprisingly, it's my legs that hurt the most, my lungs and heart seem absolutely fine ... :)

You have no clue how hard it is not to be sarcastic about the 'gave up ****' comment.

Anyways nice bike. Depending on how oftenyou bike and the terrain 100 miles a week can be pretty difficult. I have a difficult time getting to 100km on the terrain out here...

I was wondering what happened to you! Bike looks sweet matey...hmmm, singlespeed..not sure..it's great to see the bike back to it's original glory :D with gears and all.

Saying that, my old Trek 8500 is ready for a chain and brakes, then it'll be out playing with all the other singlespeeds out there!

I thought single speed, I think, because it reminded me so much of an Indy Fab (http://www.ifbikes.com/frames/single_speed.html), sweet lines on that frame .. I also like the lack of a granny.

by the way we are all wondering what you use the clockweights for????? well Iwas anyway

Hmmm the clockweights (actually sash window weights I think, dug 'em up in the garden)...

The washing line is attached to a hook at one end and the weights at the other via the pulley. This means I can pull it down to hang stuff up and it goes back up when I let go. It also acts as a 'your clothes are dry' indicator. It sags down when all the clothes are wet and goes straight when all the clothes are dry :).

Forgot to mention, the bike weighs 24lb.
