Update on Thudbuster

I have been using the Cane Creek Thudbuster suspension post for about a month now. Only one comment- I do not need a full suspension Tandem. We do ride the Tandem aggresively so any suspension post will go though it. Today we tackeled a high speed Downhill at speed and I managed to stay seated right the way down. No bottoming out, no sudden jolts of pain, and more important, no necessity to get out of the saddle.

I went for the 3" version and was wondering if this is too much movement. I thought that the 1.5" may have been more appropriate, but after the punishment we put it through today, I made the right choice.
I can see why they are a lot more expensive than other posts, but the money has been well spent

Yup. We're real big Thudbuster fans as well, though we've got the 1.5" version for the stoker. Both my daughter and wife have commented numerous times how much less their butts hurt since I've installed it. In fact, on the ride this Saturday, my daughter mentioned that I don't need to call out bumps anymore. That's pretty good indication in my book that the thing just works...

I have a question about cold weather use.I gave up on elastomer based suspension forks because they won't work well below ~32*F or 0*C.They just get hard and sluggish.

I've been using a USE with the goofy head,and it uses a spring that works well in cold weather.

Does anyone have experience with a Thudbuster in cold weather?I like the offset the G3 Thud has,but worry about cold weather use.

It's like pulling teeth to get my stokers out on any day with less than optimum weather. Needless to say, when it's that cold, I ride my single bike. I'm afraid I will be of no help in providing info about the below-freezing zone.

If you're talking about Northern Utah, the snow usually hits around mid-November and pretty much lasts through mid-March. Back in the old days, I'd ride year-round, but not so much anymore--gettin' too old for that. There are those that do, though. It's not like we're above the Arctic Circle or anything. (I once spent a very cold, dark, winter commuting by bike just 50 miles south of the aforementioned circle...not fun.) By late March or early April, we're usually on the road pretty regular (though we did have a very fun January 29th tandem club ride in Salt Lake City to kick off the 2005 season).

Yup, Northern Utah. Still not sure where though. We decided the affordable homes in Spanish Fork are too small for us, so we're still looking. If we get there in January, our bikes still won't arrive until March, so we'll be ok.

Well I just ordered a Thudbuster ST and shim for my stoker. I found a good price on the thudbuster st from jensonusa.com for $80.00(have used them in the past, very good service). However they did not have the shim in stock, so I ended up ordering from performance that had both post and shim in stock, price matched from $139 to $80.00 on the seat post.

I'm not spamming the board, just wanted others to know as I have been reluctant to get a suspension post based on the price.

That $139 in the US is £139 in the UK with the Exchange rate at about$1.60 to the £- You can see why we feel we are be conned on prices in the UK. Still - what price Comfort?
