Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Which is exactly the same as my old ride, just with different colors (and a bell).

Sharp! I dig it! The color combo is nice and if you ever run into a little money, I think you should have it professionally done up like that. And the bell's just tits. I need to get mine put back on, I keep not getting around to it. When I get my grampa cruiser from ANT, I'll put one on for sure.

Thanks! If it was a really nice frame I probably would have gotten it done professionally, but it's just a heavy straight-gauge 4130 frame. It's not from the Japanese made Nishiki era -- it's from right after they moved production to Taiwan. Riding my other bike for a month, which is made with Reynolds 531, while this was being worked on, made me realize how this thing really rides like a tank :).

it is sharp, but golly, i really find those big-as-hell nitto bullhorns to be ugly. that's partly because i'm not longer a bullhorn afficionado--they don't work for me, right now, as they do for other people--but whatever.
those fenders really make it, i think!

They are kinda ginormous, aren't they? I do wish they were slightly shorter, and I've actually often thought they look slightly unbalanced or out of proportion on most bike because they're so large, but they're still the best bars for climbing I've ever ridden, and I live at the top of a 16% grade :)

well that's good.
i loved the flop-and-chops on my old conversion, so i put syntace horns on my IRO, and i just hated them. much too flat on the horns, no matter what angle i put them at, and the bar end brake lever was too far away for when i needed it. so i scrounged some old drops and have been riding them since. the only thing i miss is accellerating with the corners of the 'horns, but i really like the leverage that the drops give me for sprinting. ach so...
i think i remember somebody comparing the nitto horns to a shopping cart.
i can definitely see using 'horns like that if my bars were low and my top tube was real short.

i chopped the 2-1/2-3 inches off of those bars and now they look better and they are awesome.
