Mountain Biking - Disc on 06 Hardrock Sport

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Is it possible to use disc brakes on the the stock fork that comes with the 2006 Hardrock Sport (RST Gila T-6)? I've read about the caliper breaking off from the fork from earlier models of the fork because the disc mount isn't strong enough. Is this also true with the 06 model of the Hardrock?
Also, the stock fork that comes on Hardrock Sport has a 100mm travel. If I were to buy another fork, would it too have to have 100mm travel, or can I get something with more travel?
Thanks in advance.

a) yes you can, just don't go bigger than 6"
b) i'd say stay around the 100mil mark.
