Road Cycling - Yet another compatibility question...

OK. I promise this will be the last compatibility question I ask this week. ;)
Will a Dura Ace triple crankset and front derailleur work with an Ultregra GS triple rear derailleur or do I need to get a Dura Ace rear der?
I ask because I really like the 53-39-30 set up but don't want to replace my rear derailleur and I already have a DA front der. I am trying to decide if I want to save the cash and just live with the 52-42-30 and get an Ultegra triple front der. or get the DA crank.
Thanks once again for you thoughts.
P.S. I have searched Sheldon Brown's site and also Shimano's and can't find a compatibility chart.

yes it will work
In fact, I'm almost sure that the D/A rear derailleur will not work with your triple, since they don't usually have that much capacity.
D*Alex, where do you come up with this crap?? He alrady got 2 right answers from someone who knows, and from someone who probably knows,FYI and FWIW, the capacity on the DA triple rear is 27 max cog and 37 wrap, identical to the ultegra.

Yes, no problem.

You may not have checked my Dura-Ace page (http://sheldonbrown.com/dura-ace.html) lately, because I just added a warning against the Dura-Ace triple. I'd advise going with Ultegra. If the 42 doesn't float your boat, get a TA 38 or 39 ring.
The Dura-Ace triple uses non-standard, non interchangeable chainrings for both the 30 and 39 sizes, with no substitutions possible. The 30 uses a unique 92 mm bolt circle, and the 39 is specially designed to be incompatible with all other 130 mm cranks.

Sheldon,
I did check out your page. But I think it was after I posted. And I did end up ordering a TA 38T ring. I figure I'll get more use out of the 38 anyway.
My main concern was that there is some annonying noise coming from the chainring area. I thought it was the BB but I think it's just the Front Der. touching the chain at a weird angle.
I'll let everyone know what happens when I swap out the 42 for the 38 this weekend.
Cheers,
Sean
