Nope, something even more rare. There I am cruising down the Freeway frontage road next to the 202, keeping a steady 22 mph, when ahead of me I see another cyclist. Hmmm, looks kind of short for a cyclists, could it be? "No, can't be, it's impossible" I think. Then I get closer and am in fact actually approaching another recumbent rider commuting to work it appears! Said "Good Morning!" as I cruised by, and she (wo, even wierder, a female recumbent commuter!) said hi and asked how I was doing. Man this is wierd. Looks like there is company out there. Never seen her before, perhaps she is a new commuter on this route?

I really shouldn't say what I'm thinking here...... Gosh I just can't stop myself from saying it..... I'm gonna be flamed...... Here it comes.....
It just goes to show you even woman bike riders can see the light.
I just couldn't stop myself.

Paul: wondering how you created your in motion recumbant bike mojo for the forum? What software did you use? You may email me at NextLevelMentor@aol.com if you like.

megaman - shame!
I would love to commute on my bent to and from work. I'm just a little chicken with NoVA traffic and being alone. Those folks are nuts!
I much prefer my EZ Sport to the Allez or the Expedition my husband started me on. He keeps trying to find me a DF that works and I just keep shaking my head no. I would love a higher end bent but I have to wait until I retire from the AF in 17 months. Then I'll look for a real job that'll help support my bent habit.
In the meantime, I'll keep my eyes open and tell all the women who ask how much more comfortable my bent is compared to their DFs.
Happy riding.

This discussion really gets me thinking though(ouch that hurts). Of the partners that ride, how many of them have different styles of bikes(bents compared to DFs).

Out of the 4 wahls, I am the only one on a bent. twahl keeps looking but he speaks more about getting me on a DF then him on a bent. I've seen a few couples who ride tandem bents but not many couples with mixed single bikes. Interesting trend to be on the lookout for.

I love riding my 'bents, but my hubby refuses to. Says he's more comfortable on a DF. I think he's feeling like a sissy on a 'bent. :o/ Too bad, he don't know what he's missing. :o)

mominboots and LRtrike, do you ride with your hubbies?

Yes, I ride most often with the hubby. I actually prefer it that way. He rides without me as well. He is a stronger (more secure) rider then I and he has more available time. Why?

I got my wife a Giant Revive a few years ago for Xmas. She was having serious cervical spine problems, and couldn't handle having her neck bent up in DF mode. It only took me a very short time to realise how much more sense it made than my mountain bike and that I needed one of those recumbents, so I got an EZ Sport. My wife realised how much nicer (and faster) my bike was than hers and wanted a true bent. I let her have my Sport and got an EZ Speedster. Now we ride together on an EZ Tandem. Bike riding has become our main hobby and taken the place of our weekend dates. The laid back relaxed feel of the bent just adds to our enjoyment. Riding even differing speed bents was hard to enjoy let alone the speed difference between DF bikes and bent bikes (at least the low end slower ones we ride).
