Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - New (to me) keirin frame - Vivalo

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Lookee what the postal service delivered this morning... 58x58 Vivalo keirin frame. Great shape, some paint wear but no dents. Already ordered matching red, non-machined Deep V rims. It'll be a months long project of piecing it all together, certainly not helped by the impending winter gas bills, but it'll happen eventually.

Where in the world did you find an NJS frame that size? Do you have a friend in Japan?

i pretty much have the same frame, but 51cm. its taking me awhile to get the money together to build it all up. soon though.
ATTN: People without proper funding.
Just send me the frame, as that's the only thing I need to complete my set-up.

Where in the world did you find an NJS frame that size?
Japan.
Do you have a friend in Japan?
Yes.
The frame came from e-framebank.com, through a friend I've known for a few years via email through the office, and finally met at the messenger worlds in NYC this past summer. ~$400 with shipping! Totally worth it for the quality of frame, screw the NJS stamp. I just wanted a classic looking, modern lugged steel track frame. Best bang for the buck by far. At the office today we all did a bit of drooling over this one.
So you have the full NJS build here in Pittsburgh, and I have the NJS frame that fits you in Pittsburgh. Thats sort of funny, 'specially since I'm not planning an NJS build. 32 spokes and chopped risers, with a separate drop bar setup for those days when I'm feeling fast, or want to ride the rollers. Crankset and stem are going to be the hard pieces for me...
Tried to pull some strings and get a set of D/A high flange hubs, but no dice. Wearing a Campy hat to a Shimano press camp wasn't the wisest thing I've ever done.

At least you have one less person with a good Japan connection looking for your size frame... Small consolation, but?
I looked at that site for 6 months or so before I found a frame with a 58cm top tube, and it just happened to be this one, in near-perfect shape. Did you see the one on there with a 59cm seat tube but a really short, like 53cm or something top tube? The picture looks like a normal bike, and I'm wondering if the top tube measurement isn't off. Might be worth having someone write in and ask about.
This one... Way steep seat tube, but that top tube measurement has to be off. Amazing shape...
