Commuting - Did Surly use Reynolds 631 to make its older Cross Checks??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Any info would be appreciated. I thought it was all generic CroMo.
4130 chromoly I believe, just like the rest of their steel frames
Yes, older Cross-Checks were 631. They also had 1" forks.

If you want a frame similar to the Cross Check but made from Reynolds 631 tubing, check out the Soma Double Cross (http://www.somafab.com/frames.html).
I have one and have been delighted with it.
