could i put a Stratos LR1 on my Bruiser? it's a 5" or 6" travel fork... could i do it?

I am wondering the same. My riding buddy is considering putting a dual crown 6" travel fork on his since the factory fork has already crapped out.

You can put any new fork on almost any new frame. Not always recomended and if your bike comes with a single crown you may want to check with the manufacturer if it will void the warranty and if the frame can handle it.

6 inches equates out to 150mm and the for on my bike now is 130mm, i removed stickers above the stanchions that proclaimed 130mm to the world. I see it as the LR1 is 5 or 6 inches so a max of 150mm, which would be all that incredibly much of a difference. Dual crowns wouldn't add any additional stress that a 150mm single crown would. And also i emailed Trek and asked them.

Heard some bad things about Stratos customer service.....anyone here have any experience with them?

I have never had a problem with them and have been using their products on my DH race bikes for the last 5 years now. They answer my email quickly and if I ever needed a part they shipped it out with in a day or two. If you are local to them they always like customers to come by. They have one guy who works for the, can not remember his name, but if you show up he will talk your ear off about anything bikes.

it depends on the geometry of the frame, is it is not raked and it doesnt void the warranty Id do it.....but use your better jundgement, no one likes a sheared head tube

It would depend on the intended use. If you will be racing DH the the S8 Ultra is one of the best Dh forks out there. 8lbs, 200mm of travel and very little lateral flex for an inverted fork. It is also infinitly tuneable if you know how to work with the internals. If not you still have the external preload, rebound and compression. Also, the fork uses three springs in each leg and Stratos will set up the correct springs for you from the start. You can set it up so it has a progressive feel or a linear depending on what you like. You can also get the ID cartridge in the S8 if you for some reason feel the need to ride up the hills as well as down.
The LR1 w/the ID cartridge would be a great freeride fork if you do not need more then 152mm(6") of travel.
For XC/trail use there are other companies that would be better such as Marzocchi or Fox.

So if I plan on doing a little bit of everything go with fox or marzocchi, or would the LR1 be suitable?

yeah thats kind of my stance, i'll be doing everything, some light downhill, freeride, street, trails, not much XC
