Had a great commute in this morning! It was 50 degrees and dry. I leave for work at 5:30am to get there by 7:00. It's really dark in Wisconsin that early until about 6:20am at this time of the year. I have been using a very cheap Cateye powered by 4 AA batteries. But on Friday my new light system arrived in the mail.

It's a Performance Viewpoint Dual . It has a 12 watt flood beam and a 12 watt spot beam which is activated by a switch mounted to the handlebar when needed. The spot really helped in the wooded trail sections of my commute. I felt a lot safer with the added visibility with this new system. I still don't know how long the battery will really last. It says 2 1/2 hours with only the flood. We'll see.

Thanks for your input and helping me make my decision. After considering the Schmidt Dynamo and other more expensive systems I thought I would try the middle of the road system first.

I'm in the same boat.. I picked up the Performance Viewpoint Dual Pro (12W spot and 20W flood).... all I can say is WOW... those likes make such a difference. I'm so glad I got them.

I actually bought them and then had to take them back since during the first ride, the 12W spot blew out. They switched it for no charge. I also suggest you open up the lights and put black electrical tape around the wires and where the bulb plugs in. On mine, they rattled ALOT. I put that tape on them and it stopped the rattling.

P.B. Thanks for the advice. I will know what to do if the rattling starts. So far the lights are quiet.
