General Cycling Discussion - a question for the leg shavers among us

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
As far as i can tell a few people do this because of the whole aerodynamics thing and some do it because your skin heals better after a graze if there isn't any hair in the way.
I dont know how true either of these reasons are but they both sound pretty good to me so i am considering it.
My question is, how high up thier legs to most people shave?
That is pretty much up to you, just don't shave your butt, that is gross. Your fist time is not going to be a pleasant experience, its going to itch and be dried out, but hang in there, it will start to feel better, just don't shave everyday, that would suck.

xisle,
My legs is hairy. Not sure.
My guess is, up to the shorts line?
Hey, if you're brave, you'll eventually be telling everyone else what works!
You don't want to end up with hairy shorts!!!!
Ha ha...I shave all the way baby!! yeah man yeah...
I went up to the undies line. One piece of advice, use a decent razor. I used disposable, besides using the entire bag they are really irratating to the skin down there. I would go with a MACH 3 or something.

That's not it at all, Techno-warrior, and you know it...
you are just giving us more rope to hang ourselves...
you really should fry us now, while we still have some dignity.

yeah, but you know that would just make things soooo much easier on y'all if I did that, wouldn't it? ;) Just couldn't help posting that, ya know? I mean really, what's a girl supposed to do? Okay, I suppose just read the post would've been sufficient, but I was never known for just being sufficient...just darn spunky! (Uh, okay, i've been watching way too many old movies...)

Hey, Technogirl, you gave me a cyber-whiplash with that sudden signature change then revert.
Give these guys plenty of rope. Then, when they hit the end of it their bikes will look like the police car in "American Graffiti". Except Pete Clark. He is going to REALLY look different with the rope tied THERE.

Shave wherever you might lose skin in a crash.
When I was racing I shaved up to my hip-bone on the outside and about 2 to 3 inches from my crotch on the inside or up to my swim suit line if I was swimming during the season. It looks pretty weird if you have patches of hair on some parts of your legs and no hair everywhere else

I must point out that whatever you choose to shave will become prickly to "her" if you don't keep on shaving it often.
When I was shaving my legs I shaved every other day. That worked well. Everyday made my skin really dry.
Whatever you do,beginner leg shavers, don't use old razors, disposable razors, and DON'T use dull razors, and wash your legs really well before you shave. If you don't wash your legs before you shave then all the germs and stuff on your legs gets into the cut hair follicles and you can end up with a bacterial infection on your legs. This is experience people...

Fubar,
Do you think we could get a new business going? I'm thinking something like a barber shop for male cyclists that shaves legs, head, whatever. None of the barbers could be men, though.
The sight of a lady sharpening a straight razor is a little exciting, no?
Hmmm, you think it would sell? But hey, if you're for it, I'm for it..
P.S. I'm scared of straight razors, my friend cut his face open with one of those suckers

We definitely wouldn't hire him.
But having a barber shave you with some nice-smelling,
hot shaving lotion can be a wonderful experience!
I don't shave my legs for "aerodynamics". My legs are so hairy they just look BAD, almost embarrassing
But I definitely like the idea of the lady barber :) Just don't tell my wife.
BTW, she has finally gotten used to the idea of me shaving.

Hey, Rainman, sorry, didn't think twice about my sudden signature change...ah, but it's nice to know that I've actually caused the first cyber-whiplash! :D
