Just my luck -- just when I'm getting ready to explore some area trails it looks as if some of the best (well, for around here anyhow) are going away. The new 'Master Plan' for Memorial Park eliminates pretty much all of the existing MTB trails and replaces them with a perimeter trail that will almost certainly offer little in the way of challenge or interest for people currently riding the exisiting trails.

Follow the links to the Parks Board addresses and the info from the last meeting. Now would also be a good time to remind your local scoundrels (City Council members, Mayor, etc.) that this issue is a good way to gain or lose your vote.

The Houston area doesn't exactly have a surplus of good trails, so we can't afford to let one go -- plus, this sort of thing could happen to other trails in the area if this goes through unopposed.
