I'm looking at moving to SLC for the winter, Jan - Mar. Besides skiing I will need to ride for those couple months. Is this possible in SLC? I'm sure there are days when it snows in the Valley, but overall, is it possible to jump on the road bike and go for say, a 3 hr ride? What's the average temp in the city Jan - Mar?

If biking isn't possible during winter months, how far do you have to drive to go for some good road (or mtb for that matter) rides?

Thanks for all your help!

I rode a motorcycle when I lived there through 3 winters. There were a couple of times I rode in the snow, and a few times I just took the bus, but there were plenty of rides I took, especially up into the mountains on Sunday mornings to eat at this little breakfast shack... ah...

Anyway, I saw road cyclists from time to time. I had a helmet with a face shield though. Personally, I don't know how any cyclists ride without a faceshield in the winter.

If you're going all the way to SLC, don't leave without going to see a live show by The Happies (thehappies.net). They're the only reason to go to SLC as far as I'm concerned.

OK, and the skiing (oops)!
