Hi,
I just bought a new Stumpjumper FSR expert and just soled my old Cann Raven 2000 bike.
In general the stumpy simse to be very rigid, firm and all mountain bike.
The new bike felt very stable on moderate singletarcks and I'm very pleased with that (The Fox TALAS fron fork is really great).
I have problem though with XC.
Its sims to me that I go 75% slower with more efforts going uphill and riding on graved roads then the previous bike although they are quite the same weight.
I lock the front and rear shocks or using propedal but still.
The stock tyres are Specialized Andlenaline 2.1.
I do 60% XC and 40% singletrack with no big jumps.
Does the tyres effect much on speed?
Does the frame geometry has to do with speed as well?
Please advise if you have some assumption for the cause of that.
Thanks
Yossi

Its obviously the bike.

The flux capacitors on the 06's tend to take a while to break in. You should also try greasing your j bar. A dry J bar will slow you up in a hurry.

I am just kidding with you. You never seen/heard of back to the future?

Anyway,

In reality

Do you wheels roll smoothly?

Does your crankset rotate easily in your bottom bracket?

Are you brakes rubbing?

Other than that, you have me stumped.

some tires make a bit of difference in speed but no tire is going to slow you down 75%.

good luck. That is a sweet bike you have

flux capacitors ..... got it only now!!! :-(
Any way, yes I am happy for buying them, the brake squizz a bit because its Avid juicy 7 (great brakes),
the wheels do not roll smoothly, probably they are ment for epics rides.
I think I will replace the handlebar to lighter one (beside the tyres).
Beside that I probably need to get used to them right?
Thanks man
